Austin Film Society (AFS)

Austin Film Society (AFS)

Description: Founded in 1985 by filmmaker Richard Linklater (director of Boyhood, Dazed and Confused, and the upcoming Where’d Go You Bernadette?), The Austin Film Society creates life- changing opportunities for filmmakers, catalyzes Austin and Texas as a creative hub, and brings the community together around film. AFS supports filmmakers making career leaps through grants and support services, and by providing a place for people of all backgrounds to learn the craft of filmmaking and gain access to tools for media production. Visitors will get a tour of Austin Studios (a 20-acre production facility), and learn from the Leadership and Communication Team about its filmmaker program — designed to support and encourage storytellers to help make their vision a reality.
